Carlos Sainz warns F1 of impending disaster: ‘there’s going to be a big crash’

F1 IN DANGER: Carlos Sainz Sounds Alarm Over Potential Catastrophe on the Track!

In a shocking revelation that could send shockwaves through the world of Formula 1, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has raised critical concerns about the safety of the sport following the introduction of a controversial system this season. The Straight Mode (SM) system, which has become a focal point of debate, has Sainz fearing imminent disaster on the racetrack.

As racers reach blistering speeds, the SM system alters the angles of both the front and rear wings, depending on whether the cars are cornering or racing through designated SM zones. This transformation has raised eyebrows, particularly during the season opener at the Australian Grand Prix, where the SM area dramatically linked Turns 9 and 10 at Melbourne's Albert Park. Sainz fears that this could lead to a significant lack of downforce in high-speed sections, creating a ticking time bomb for on-track incidents.

“SM is a plaster on top of a plaster,” Sainz bluntly stated while addressing the media, including RacingNews365. The implication? The racing world is teetering on the edge of chaos. “Racing with your wings open on the straights at 340 km/h, sooner rather than later, there's going to be a big crash at very high speeds in tracks like Australia with little kinks,” he warned, underscoring the inherent risks associated with this aerodynamic tweak.

While Sainz acknowledges that not every circuit shares the same peril, he emphasizes that other tracks featuring flat, straight sections with subtle curves could pose similar threats. “Places like Jeddah, with open wings… I don’t like it,” he cautioned, even though this year's Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been scrapped due to ongoing conflict in the region.

Sainz's message is clear: racing flat out at speeds approaching 340 km/h without adequate downforce is a recipe for disaster, particularly on tracks that demand precision and control. “In China, a straight line is fine. But in the other kind of tracks, it’s not good,” he added, highlighting the stark differences in safety depending on the circuit's layout.

The SM system has been deemed a “plaster” for a sport already grappling with the energy demands of modern cars, and Sainz's troubling predictions could soon become a reality if the issue is not addressed. As the stakes rise, Formula 1 must take heed: the time for action is now, before a catastrophic incident shatters the thrill of the race and endangers lives on the track.
