The Peugeot drivers and management team are reflecting on the old 9X8 without wings as the new 9X8 prepares to debut in Imola this weekend. According to Nico Muller, the previous concept was suitable for the characteristics of the Qatar track, allowing them to compete for a podium position. However, Muller acknowledges that each track requires a different approach and compromises must be made. Despite running in second place for most of the race in Qatar, Peugeot’s wingless car faced a refueling issue during the final pit stop, causing it to run out of fuel on Jean-Eric Vergne’s last lap. Olivier Jansonnie, Peugeot’s technical director, agrees that the previous car had reached its performance limit and now they must focus on optimizing the new car. The new 9X8 differs significantly from its predecessor, with only a few parts remaining unchanged. The new car will make its racing debut at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Imola.
