The Xiaomi started delivering the first units of the SU7 on Thursday, the first electric car from the Chinese mobile phone brand to compete with Tesla in its territory.
During the ceremony for the delivery of the first units, with a live broadcast on the Chinese social network “Douyin,” the Chinese equivalent of the popular TikTok, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun confirmed that sales of the SU7 were 3 to 5 times higher than initially expected.
The first models now delivered are the entry-level version, equipped with a HyperEngine V6 engine with 299 hp and 400 Nm mounted on the rear axle, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.
However, Li Jun confirmed that they expect to start delivering the Max model, equipped with two HyperEngine V6s engines, with all-wheel drive and a combined 673 hp and 823 Nm, as well as the top-of-the-range Pro version, equipped with the HyperEngine V8 engine, which has a power of 578 hp and a maximum torque of 635 Nm, by the end of May.
It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi sold out the production planned for this year, of about 100 thousand units, in just over 24 hours after the reservation period opened.
