Sergio Perez reveals the truth: Cadillac values my feedback ‘much more’ than Red Bull

Sergio Perez Breaks Silence: Reveals Surprising Truth About His Move to Cadillac!

In a shocking revelation, Formula 1 star Sergio Perez has declared that his feedback is “much more appreciated” at Cadillac compared to his tumultuous tenure at Red Bull. After a rollercoaster career that saw him rise through the ranks from midfield teams like Sauber and McLaren to the elite Red Bull Racing, Perez is now embarking on an exciting new chapter with Cadillac, F1’s newest team.

From 2021 to 2024, Perez achieved remarkable feats with Red Bull, including three pole positions and an impressive collection of 29 podiums, five of which were victories. Despite this success, he struggled to keep pace with his teammate Max Verstappen, finishing the 2024 season on a disappointing note. “Definitely the last six months of my journey with Red Bull were tough in all areas. I really felt like I needed a break,” the 36-year-old Mexican driver admitted, reflecting on his challenging experience in the notoriously tricky RB20 car.

After a year on the sidelines in 2025, Perez joined Cadillac for the 2026 season, partnering with fellow veteran Valtteri Bottas. His excitement about this new opportunity is palpable. “I could see things that for the outside were not visible. They became more visible after I left, of course. I had a great time also with Red Bull. For me, it's just getting back and really enjoying my time with Cadillac,” Perez expressed, hinting at a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm.

In a candid interview, Perez emphasized the collaborative spirit at Cadillac that he feels was lacking at Red Bull. “I can see the way that the car is being developed and the way we're pushing forwards in the same direction, it obviously helps. And I feel that, definitely, obviously, my feedback is much more appreciated.” This insight sheds light on the stark contrast in team dynamics between the two racing giants.

Cadillac F1 team CEO Dan Towriss echoed Perez’s sentiments, underlining the critical role of experience in shaping the team’s future. “It’s very logical,” Towriss stated, acknowledging that Perez’s extensive experience was a decisive factor in choosing him as a driver. “We really do need someone experienced who can handle the ups and downs of being a first-year team,” he continued, emphasizing the importance of having a veteran like Perez who knows what the car should feel like and can provide direction for development.

Despite the challenges that come with being part of a new team, Towriss remains optimistic. “I think they have enough experience to pick up where [they] left off. Obviously, a lot is changing this year. And again, being able to adapt to that, I think their experience is just going to be key,” he remarked, hinting at the potential for Cadillac to make a significant impact in the competitive world of F1.

However, the road ahead is not without its bumps. Cadillac's debut at the Australian Grand Prix was less than stellar, with Perez finishing in 16th place, the last classified driver, three laps down. Bottas faced a retirement due to a fuel system issue, leaving fans questioning Cadillac's readiness to compete at the highest level.

As the 2026 season unfolds, all eyes will be on Perez and Cadillac. Will they rise to the occasion and prove the doubters wrong? One thing is for sure: Sergio Perez is back, and he’s ready to rewrite his legacy on the Formula 1 stage. Stay tuned as this thrilling story continues to develop!
