NASCAR ROARS BACK WITH POWER: CHRISTOPHER BELL CELEBRATES GAME-CHANGING HORSEPOWER BOOST AT PHOENIX

In a breathtaking twist for NASCAR fans, the thunderous roar of increased horsepower is set to redefine the landscape of the Cup Series! Following a wave of passionate calls from fans and voices within the garage, NASCAR has announced a monumental rules shift that will see engine power surge to an exhilarating 750 horsepower for road courses and oval tracks under 1.5 miles, starting with the 2026 season. This marks a significant jump from the previous limit of 670 horsepower, and the implications are staggering!

The decision is not just about numbers; it’s about empowerment! This bold move aims to place more control squarely in the hands of the drivers, enhancing throttle management and tire strategy, and paving the way for more thrilling overtakes as racers power through corners. After the recent race at Phoenix Raceway, Christopher Bell, a standout driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, couldn't contain his excitement, declaring that the changes were nothing short of revolutionary.

In a lively media session, Bell was asked to compare his experience behind the wheel to that of the previous fall event at the same venue. His response? Enthusiastic approval! “Yeah, I mean I thought it was great; the horsepower is really, really necessary. I would love to keep bumping it up,” he stated, underscoring the significance of this change. “It just really puts it in the driver’s and the team’s hands.”

Bell’s enthusiasm was palpable as he highlighted the competitive edge this increase in horsepower provides. “You saw Blaney make it back up through there after his mishap a couple of times. I ended up back in the field, and you know the cream is able to rise to the top, so more horsepower is definitely a lot better,” he added, firmly believing that this enhancement will elevate the competition to exhilarating new heights. “The cream is able to rise to the top,” he emphasized, a phrase that echoes the very essence of racing!

His teammate, Chase Briscoe, who faced a disappointing 37th place finish due to a failure, echoed Bell’s sentiments with palpable excitement. Briscoe described the horsepower increase as a jolt that electrified the racing experience. “It’s a blast,” he exclaimed, noting that the boost felt like a staggering 80 additional horsepower—though he humorously mentioned 70 during his interview—making the cars slide “all over the place.” As teams gear up for the next challenge at Darlington Raceway, he anticipates the same thrilling dynamics.

Even Joey Logano chimed in before the race weekend, sharing his observations about the Next Gen car’s transformed behavior due to the power boost, which works astonishingly well in tandem with Goodyear tires.

This seismic shift in NASCAR’s approach signals not just a change in horsepower but a new era in the sport where drivers are empowered, strategies are sharpened, and fans are treated to a spectacle of speed and skill like never before. As the engines roar to life in 2026, the excitement is palpable—are you ready for the ride of your life?
