Polestar, the electric vehicle brand, is focused on increasing efficiency and using renewable energies, and has now announced that it reduced greenhouse gas emissions per car sold last year by 9% through its focus on increasing efficiency and using renewable energies.

The reduction achieved was possible through a concentration in three main areas: the use of carefully chosen materials with lower climate impact, renewable electricity in the production of cars and batteries, and energy efficiency in the usage phase.

The achievements in 2023 and future ambitions illustrate that it is possible to dissociate growth from increasing emissions.

“Our vision is clear – we want to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles and, at the same time, introduce more sustainable and innovative solutions to make electric vehicles even better. We have to acknowledge that our industry still has a huge potential for improvement when it comes to disclosing concrete plans to fulfill its climate commitments. This year, we are sharing the work we do to make our climate roadmap more concrete as we navigate towards our climate goal for 2040.”, stated Fredrika Klarén, Sustainability Director of Polestar, in a press release.

Recall that the Swedish electric car brand aims to create a truly climate-neutral car by 2030, reduce carbon emissions per car sold by half between 2020 and 2030, and achieve climate neutrality throughout its value chain by 2040.
