Pininfarina, the Italian design studio that created several iconic cars, from the Ferrari 250 GT SWB to the Alfa Romeo Spider, or the Lancia Aurelia B24S, has partnered with Plenitude, a subsidiary of the transalpine multinational in the energy sector (Eni), which is responsible for developing the charging network for electric vehicles or those equipped with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) engines. The goal of the partnership is to work on the design of a new concept for charging points, in order to improve the entire infrastructure in terms of functionality, ease of use, image, transparency, and service.

“Pininfarina also has the ambition to actively participate in the mobility of the future, and this partnership confirms it. We presented the first electric car back in the 1970s, and since then, we have never stopped working, both in design and technology, focusing on technical architecture and user experiences. The idea is to apply our multidisciplinary expertise in creating solutions that enhance people’s lives. The partnership with Plenitude allows us to transform battery charging spaces into more comfortable areas, easy to recognize, and well integrated into the surrounding environments. Design is a driver of progress and an accelerator of change,” explained Paolo Dellachà, the managing director of the company founded 95 years ago.

This partnership also includes the creation of additional services that greatly enhance the experience of using the chargers, which will also be designed under the supervision of Pininfarina. It promises, in particular, higher quality materials and better ergonomics. The agreement includes the installation of four charging points from Plenitude at Pininfarina’s headquarters in Turin, Italy – two at 22 kW (alternating current) and two at 50 kW (direct current).
