Sergio Perez unleashes bold critique of Red Bull: feels more valued at Cadillac

Sergio Perez Launches Bold Critique of Red Bull, Celebrates Newfound Appreciation at Cadillac

In an explosive declaration that is sure to send shockwaves through the Formula 1 paddock, Sergio Perez has dramatically revealed that he feels “much more appreciated” at Cadillac than he ever did during his tumultuous tenure at Red Bull. As the seasoned driver gears up for a thrilling return at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend, his remarks signal a significant shift in both his career and mindset.

The 36-year-old Mexican racing sensation, who racked up five impressive victories with Red Bull from 2021 to 2024, faced a steep decline in performance that ultimately led to his dismissal from the Milton Keynes powerhouse. After struggling to keep pace with his teammate Max Verstappen, Perez’s stint ended in disappointment, but it seems he has emerged from the experience with a renewed sense of purpose.

In candid discussions with the media, including Motorsport Week, Perez laid bare the stark contrast between his experiences at Red Bull and his current environment at Cadillac. “I think I could definitely see the way that the car is being developed and the way we are pushing forward in the same direction; it always helps,” he stated, emphasizing how his feedback is now valued and welcomed.

Gone are the days of suffocating pressure and relentless scrutiny that dulled his passion for racing. Perez boldly asserted that the weight of expectations at Red Bull had drained the joy from his racing career. Reflecting on his year away from the sport, he remarked, “I really felt like my year out gave me a very different perspective of the sport.” This time of reflection has reinvigorated his love for racing, allowing him to embrace a more carefree attitude that harks back to his karting days.

With Cadillac, Perez is keen to reclaim his competitive edge, aiming to enjoy racing once again. “So, for me, the main priority is to enjoy it again as if it was karting,” he passionately declared. “If I’m able to enjoy, I will be able to perform at my best. And, ultimately, that’s the only thing that really matters at this point of my career.”

Looking ahead to the future, Perez has identified the monumental challenge that awaits Cadillac as they prepare for their debut in 2026. After logging crucial testing miles at Bahrain International Circuit earlier this year, he emphasized the need for aggressive development. “From what we’ve seen in Bahrain, I think we have to outdevelop all of the teams that have been in the sport for years,” he asserted, echoing the urgency and ambition that Cadillac needs to succeed in the highly competitive world of Formula 1.

“It's not going to be an easy task for Cadillac, but for us, I think it’s all about the progress we can make from here and getting all of the different departments in place. That will be the main objective for us,” Perez concluded, setting the stage for what promises to be an exhilarating journey for the American manufacturer in the years to come.

With his fiery remarks and newfound enthusiasm, Sergio Perez is not just gearing up for a race; he’s igniting a new chapter in his career and throwing down the gauntlet to his former team. As the engines roar to life in Melbourne, all eyes will be on Perez to see if he can turn this fresh start into racing glory.
