Max Verstappen SLAMS FIA for Late Feedback Request on Controversial 2026 F1 Regulations!
In a stunning outburst, Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen has unleashed his frustration on the FIA for their outrageous timing in seeking feedback on the highly contentious 2026 technical regulations, just days before the adrenaline-pumping Australian Grand Prix! The world of F1 is currently embroiled in chaos over energy management issues, with a perplexing 50:50 split between electrical power and internal combustion leading to a whirlwind of unforeseen complications.
As teams scramble for solutions, the race starts have become a hot topic of debate, with drivers grappling with the fact that their cars require a staggering 15 seconds to spool energy before they can launch off the line. This alarming delay has prompted teams to urgently call for changes to the race start protocols, intensifying the already heated atmosphere in the paddock.
Adding fuel to the fire, Carlos Sainz revealed that the FIA is now belatedly asking drivers for their input on the new regulations. Verstappen didn’t hold back his disdain. “Yeah, a bit late with that, right?” he told reporters, including those from Motorsport Week, clearly unimpressed by the FIA's last-minute scramble for opinions. He continued, “Everything, the amount of money that has been invested, you know, into these regulations, it will be around for a while. So I mean, you could have seen this coming; now things are raised as a bit late.”
As the Dutch driver gears up for the Australian Grand Prix, questions loom over his expectations for the race. Following a dazzling performance during pre-season testing, where Verstappen and his Red Bull team showcased impressive energy management, they are among the top contenders for the win. However, the young champion was quick to temper any hype, emphasizing his satisfaction with the current package but maintaining his criticism of the regulations.
“I have no idea, I’m very happy with what we did pre-season,” Verstappen shared. “It’s been a really great and proud moment how the whole project came together, through the engine and the car. I was very positively surprised at how everything felt. Also, the rule changes have been really complex for everyone, but in terms of the feeling in the car, driving experience, between the engine and the car, it was good.”
While he acknowledged the positives, Verstappen didn’t shy away from his concerns, indicating that there are aspects he still doesn’t like. “Of course I’ve had my say on other things I didn’t like, but what happened here within the team has been really good. So we are very happy with that and now, of course, looking at the performance side of things, I think we want to be a little bit faster. Everyone always wants to be faster, but from the things that I think we learned in Bahrain, at least we’re not the quickest. But yeah, I have no idea. We’ll just see where we are here to start with.”
As the tension mounts ahead of the race weekend, all eyes are on Max Verstappen and the Red Bull team. Will they conquer the challenges posed by the controversial regulations or will the FIA's missteps derail their ambitions? One thing’s for sure: the drama is just heating up in the world of Formula 1!
