Vídeo: Incêndio gigantesco na área dos boxes causado por Ryan Blaney interrompe plano de corrida de Ty Gibbs no Texas

Ty Gibbs has been plagued by unfortunate circumstances several times this season. In the recent NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, chaos ensued. The first stage went smoothly, with a notable performance from a driver to secure the stage win. However, things took a turn for the worse as multiple drivers spun out and multiple accidents occurred, ending the race in double overtime.

Amidst the chaos, the most dramatic moment happened in the pits. The pit box of Joe Gibbs Racing team unexpectedly caught fire. As Team No. 54 was getting ready to change tires during a crucial pit cycle, they noticed rubber residue in their pit box ignite, resulting in a large cloud of black smoke.

As the team worked diligently to put out the fire, Gibbs, who had not yet entered the pit lane, was instructed to stay out on track for a few more minutes. Unfortunately, this delay cost valuable time for the Toyota team, hampering their chances of a favorable outcome. Despite having the fastest cars of the day in the No. 45 Camry, they were unable to capitalize on their speed.

Initially, it was believed that the fire had originated in the neighboring pit box. However, recent video footage suggests that the rubber on the asphalt caught fire as the Cup champion drove through Team No. 45’s designated pit box area towards Team No. 12’s pit box.

All JGR drivers faced a wild incident during the race in Texas, preventing them from securing a top-10 finish. In contrast, the Toyota cars from 23XI Racing managed to secure top-ten results.

Gibbs finished one position ahead of his experienced teammate in 14th place. Meanwhile, his teammate, who was involved in a spin that triggered a chain reaction leading to Alex Bowman’s retirement, finished in 17th place.

Ultimately, it was the JGR driver with the lowest position of the day. Like Gibbs, he had a fast car capable of winning the race. However, during the final stage, while battling for the win with the victor Chase Elliott, he spun out, finishing in 30th place.

It was a forgettable day for the entire JGR team. Despite their impressive performance in the last five races, their on-track execution failed, and mistakes were also made in the pits. They will be eager to make a strong comeback at Talladega Superspeedway next week.
