Vinales faz impressionante volta por cima para triunfar em COTA após acidente de Marquez

Maverick Vinales staged a comeback after a difficult start to claim victory in an exciting Grand Prix of the Americas in MotoGP, while Marc Marquez crashed out of the race while leading. The race saw several changes at the front, with Vinales securing a historic win ahead of rookie Pedro Acosta and Enea Bastianini, who completed the podium.

Acosta made a great start from the middle of the first row and took the lead at turn 1, while Vinales, starting from pole position, had a disastrous start and dropped to 11th place after being forced off the track. Further back, Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha held his position after the start-finish straight, staying ahead of Johann Zarco and Joan Mir, while Alex Rins climbed five positions to eighth place.

Jorge Martin and Jack Miller initially occupied the top three positions, but on the second lap, Marquez’s Ducati collided with a piece of debris and made slight contact with the KTM. Francesco Bagnaia quickly passed Miller and Marquez, closing the gap to the top two.

On the third lap, Martin overtook Acosta with a bold move at turn 6, while Marquez passed Bagnaia at turn 8 and then overtook Acosta at turn 11. Bagnaia caught Acosta off guard on the next lap and, despite Acosta’s efforts, he could not regain his position.

Marquez once again put his Gresini team bike in danger by touching the rear of Martin’s Pramac while trying to overtake on the last corner of lap 6. Acosta was not done yet and managed to pass Bagnaia, with Marquez doing the same to regain third place at turn 8.

Vinales, after dropping to 11th place, showed impressive speed as he quickly climbed to sixth place and then overtook Miller in turn 2, with 13 laps remaining. Both LCR Honda riders crashed on the same lap, ending Zarco and Nakagami’s race at the back of the grid.

Likewise, Franco Morbidelli lost control of his Pramac on the following lap, extending his streak of not finishing a race to three consecutive events. The chaos continued when another Honda rider retired on the next lap, with Joan Mir from Repsol Honda crashing in the initial sector.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia and Vinales battled for position, swapping places. Vinales managed to overtake Bagnaia in turn 2 after the Spaniard went wide in turn 1. Acosta and Marquez surprised leader Martin, but their time at the front was short-lived as Martin quickly regained the lead.

However, Marquez’s chance of a memorable victory at one of his favorite venues was ruined when he crashed his Gresini in turn 11 before the pit straight. The Faenza-based team suffered another setback when Alex Marquez, riding the sister bike, also retired due to Marc’s error, allowing Vinales to join the front group.

After overtaking Martin to secure second place, Vinales positioned himself to challenge Acosta, the leading contender on the GasGas. With eight laps to go, Vinales made a successful pass in turn 11 and held onto the lead until the end, winning with a comfortable margin of over 1.5 seconds.

Vinales’ victory makes him the first rider in the MotoGP era to win on three different manufacturers, having previously triumphed on Suzuka and Yamaha bikes. Acosta’s calm second place strengthens his position in the championship, securing consecutive podiums for the impressive rookie.

An overdue overtake by Bastianini of Ducati allowed him to secure the final spot on the podium, with Martin narrowly finishing in fourth place. Bagnaia completed the top five, closing out a challenging weekend for the Italian rider.

The VR46 Ducati duo, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi, had an exciting race, finishing in sixth and eighth place, respectively, with Aleix Espargaro in seventh between them. Brad Binder, despite struggling throughout the weekend, put on a good performance to finish in ninth place, while Trackhouse’s Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveria finished in 10th and 11th place.

Quartararo, despite renewing his contract with Yamaha, failed to achieve a standout result and crossed the finish line in 12th place, the highest-placed Yamaha rider. Miller’s performance was hampered by tire degradation, causing him to fall to a disappointing 13th place, 10 seconds behind his teammate Binder.

Augusto Fernandez once again finished as the lowest-placed KTM rider, while Alex Marquez managed to recover from his earlier crash to finish in 15th place.
