Denny Hamlin fala sobre especulações de que a 23XI Racing comprará o charter da NASCAR de Tony Stewart.

Denny Hamlin does not seem interested in acquiring a new charter for 23XI Racing. The NBA legend and veteran driver of Joe Gibbs Racing joined forces in 2021 to establish the 23XI Racing team. Over three years, they have become a two-car operation with a state-of-the-art racing shop worth $16 million and two talented drivers who have already achieved multiple victories.

Recent rumors suggest that the Toyota team is considering buying a new charter and turning their part-time operation into a full-time race. It is speculated that Stewart Haas Racing could be the potential seller. Additionally, reports indicate that the four-team Ford operation is planning to downsize and will soon be selling two of their charters.

Denny Hamlin has finally addressed these rumors about a possible purchase. He stated that 23XI Racing is content being a two-car operation and has no interest in the ongoing rumors. Furthermore, he expressed that he has no knowledge of any developments at Stewart Haas Racing and is also not concerned about them.

“We are content with our two-car organization,” Denny Hamlin said in response to rumors that SHR could sell two of their charters. Hamlin also mentioned that there is currently no charter agreement in place, so there is nothing to be bought or sold.

The driver of the No. 11 car recently secured his second victory of the 2024 season at his local track in Richmond. However, after his win, he heard unhappy rumors suggesting that the historic track may lose one of its two Cup dates due to the low quality of the race. Hamlin believes this will not happen, as it is a NASCAR-owned track and emphasized that short track races are an integral part of the sport.

During the same interview, the three-time Daytona 500 winner also praised NASCAR for recognizing that there is an issue with short track racing and that it needs to be addressed. He believes that acknowledging this problem is a step in the right direction towards finding a solution, and he supports the position taken by the 23XI Racing boss.
