The 2025 Formula 1 season will start with the Australian Grand Prix, marking the first time in six years that Bahrain will not be the opening race. The International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced the calendar for the next year on Friday. The season, consisting of 24 races, will begin on March 16 in Melbourne and end on December 7 in Abu Dhabi, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship. Since 2021, the Bahrain Grand Prix has been the first of the season, followed by the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix since 2022. However, due to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan falling in March next year, the Australian Grand Prix will take the lead. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented Formula 1 from racing at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne in 2020 and 2021.

The first European race will take place in Imola in May, as part of a trio alongside Monaco and Spain, which will be held on consecutive weekends. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the FIA, highlighted the importance of the 2025 calendar in terms of meeting sustainability goals through regionalized events. He expressed gratitude to Formula One Management, led by Stefano Domenicali, for creating a calendar that balances traditional circuits and modern venues. Sulayem thanked the host ASNs (National Sports Authorities), local organizers, and the numerous FIA volunteers for their dedicated efforts in making Formula 1 a world-renowned spectacle.
