Oscar Piastri diz que McLaren já não tem vantagem em pistas rápidas.

McLaren is facing difficulties on high-speed tracks during the 2024 Formula 1 season. Woking is currently ahead of Mercedes and occupies the third position in the constructors’ championship. However, it is believed that the team is not fully capitalizing on the advantages of high-speed circuits.

The high-speed circuit of [insert circuit name] did not provide McLaren with a significant advantage over its competitors. The MCL38 had a slower performance than expected, resulting in the loss of valuable points and a possible podium for the team. Consequently, it is recognized that McLaren’s performance on high-speed tracks is not exceptional.

What has become evident in the recent races is that high-speed circuits are no longer exclusively beneficial for us.

Piastri recalled McLaren’s performance in the previous season and the advantage they had on high-speed circuits at that time. However, this season has been different and the team has struggled to perform well on fast tracks. However, this has not had a significant impact on the team’s overall performance so far.

So, let’s say that maybe the advantage we had on some of the high-speed circuits last year, I don’t believe we have it to the same extent now.

In addition to McLaren, Ferrari has shown significant improvement compared to its performances in 2023. As a result, the Australian driver praised the Italian constructor. McLaren is currently behind Maranello by 51 points in the constructors’ championship, which means Woking will need to introduce updates during the season to narrow the gap to Scuderia.

In addition, Piastri acknowledged that Red Bull remains strong, as the ground effect era highlighted its qualities. He also mentioned that Aston Martin has made significant improvements in high-speed performance. Consequently, the competition among the top five teams should intensify as the season progresses.

McLaren aims to secure a podium, if not a victory, in the upcoming sprint weekend of [insert race name]. The team has only one practice session to finalize the setup of their car. Additionally, it is worth noting that this circuit is being used for the first time in five years, and Piastri will make his debut on the Shanghai track.
