Lin Jarvis sairá como chefe da Yamaha na MotoGP no final de 2024.

Chief of the Yamaha MotoGP team, Lin Jarvis, announced that he will be stepping down from his long-standing position at the end of the 2024 season. Jarvis has been part of Yamaha’s racing division for the past 26 years and played a crucial role in revitalizing the Japanese brand in the mid-2000s. Alongside current Trackhouse Aprilla boss Davide Brivio, he was instrumental in bringing Valentino Rossi to the team during his dominant years at Honda. This partnership resulted in four world championships in 2004, 2005, 2008, and 2019, with Jorge Lorenzo also clinching MotoGP titles with Yamaha in 2010, 2012, and 2015. Jarvis’s most recent success came with Fabio Quartararo, who secured his first title in 2021 and recently renewed his contract with Yamaha for several years.

Jarvis shared his future plans during the weekend of the Americas Grand Prix, stating: “This will be my last season at Yamaha as I will step away at the end of the year. I will decide later how I will spend my time and what new ventures I will pursue.” Reflecting on his tenure, he added: “I established the factory team in 1999, and it has been an unusually long period. Now, at 66, I am starting to feel fatigue due to constant travel. Leading a project within a factory for such an extended period is quite remarkable for one person. The time has come to embark on something new. This transition is ideal, allowing me to close this chapter and start a new one in harmony. It is the best solution for all parties involved. Although the official announcement has not been made yet, we have already identified the most likely candidate to succeed me, who will take over my position in January next year. This person will be a member of the Yamaha group.”

According to Motorsport.com, Paolo Pavessio, Director of Marketing and Racing Department at Yamaha Europe, is considered the favorite to replace Jarvis.
