Isack Hadjar vows to conquer F1 2026 with Red Bull: will he break Verstappen’s curse?

Isack Hadjar: The Bold New Hope for Red Bull in F1 2026!

In a dramatic shift that could redefine the competitive landscape of Formula 1, Isack Hadjar, the 21-year-old prodigy, has stepped into the spotlight as Red Bull Racing's latest signing. With an unwavering belief in his potential to clinch race victories in the 2026 season, Hadjar is ready to take on the monumental challenge of partnering with four-time world champion Max Verstappen. But can he break the curse that has haunted his predecessors?

The pressure is palpable as Hadjar replaces Yuki Tsunoda, who faced a catastrophic 2023 season, amassing a mere 30 points over 22 grueling races. Tsunoda's dismal performance is just the tip of the iceberg; Liam Lawson, Sergio Perez, Alex Albon, and Pierre Gasly have all found themselves eclipsed by Verstappen's brilliance, creating a legacy of struggle ever since Daniel Ricciardo's departure in 2018. The stakes couldn't be higher for Hadjar, yet he remains undeterred.

“I am thrilled about the prospect of racing for victories against elite drivers—that's what it truly comes down to,” Hadjar declared with palpable enthusiasm during the pre-season test in Bahrain. “But let’s be honest, having a car that’s incredibly fast makes it all the more exciting.” Early signs from the testing sessions are promising, with Red Bull emerging as a heavyweight contender, and Verstappen logging an impressive 136 laps, leading many to proclaim the new RBPT as the fastest machine on the grid.

Despite a minor setback—a hydraulic leak that hampered his performance in the morning session—Hadjar rebounded spectacularly, completing 86 laps and securing the fifth-fastest lap in the afternoon. His spirits remain sky-high as he eyes that elusive first win, stating, “Obviously, that first race win is on the radar—that would be great. I want to see our car progressing quicker than the others. That would be very enjoyable.”

When directly asked about his confidence in achieving success with the RB22, Hadjar didn't hesitate, responding with a sharp “yeah” that echoed his determination. However, he faced scrutiny for a crash during a private shakedown in Barcelona, where he lost control at the final corner due to adverse weather conditions. The F1 community erupted in speculation, drawing parallels to Gasly’s disastrous 2019 pre-season crash, which spiraled into a nightmare season for him.

In a moment of candor, Hadjar acknowledged these comparisons, quipping, “When I crashed, I thought about it directly, I thought about Pierre. So I went on Twitter and I read everything, and I was like, ‘I'm screwed for the whole season’—and that’s how I moved on, honestly.” This playful yet poignant remark showcases Hadjar’s mental resilience and his refusal to succumb to the weight of history.

As the F1 world gears up for what promises to be an exhilarating season, all eyes will be on Isack Hadjar. Will he rise above the shadows of those who came before him, or will he succumb to the relentless pressures of racing alongside Verstappen? One thing is certain: Hadjar is ready to make his mark, and the roar of the engines is just the beginning of his thrilling journey in the fast-paced world of Formula 1!
