Yuki Tsunoda Roars Back to Life with F1 Comeback at San Francisco Demo in Iconic RB7!
In a thrilling announcement that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, Yuki Tsunoda is set to reclaim his spot in the adrenaline-fueled world of Formula 1! The talented Red Bull test and reserve driver will take the wheel of the legendary 2011 RB7 during an electrifying demonstration event in San Francisco. This is a golden opportunity for fans to witness the raw power and precision of one of F1’s most celebrated machines while Tsunoda showcases his driving prowess!
Joining Tsunoda in this exhilarating showcase are motorsport legends: former F1 and rallycross star Scott Speed, off-road warrior Mitch Guthrie, and freestyle motocross daredevil Aaron Colton. This star-studded lineup is sure to bring a festival of engines and excitement to the streets of San Francisco!
“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of an F1 car, and to do that in [the] RB7 in San Francisco will be amazing,” Tsunoda exclaimed, brimming with enthusiasm. “I’m really looking forward to getting out there, doing some donuts and making some real F1 noise in front of the crowds.” His passion for the sport is palpable, and fans can expect nothing less than a spectacular display of skill and speed.
Despite being relegated to a reserve role after losing his full-time seat at the end of the 2025 season, Tsunoda remains a vital part of the Red Bull family, now entering his sixth year with the team. Since debuting with AlphaTauri (now Racing Bulls) in 2021, he has navigated the highs and lows of F1, including a brief tenure alongside none other than four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, who took the reins in July 2025, opened up about the difficult decision to shift Tsunoda to a reserve role. “It has been a very difficult decision to take. The second seat at Red Bull is not an easy one. We have a tough car to drive. And of course, we have tried everything we could to support Yuki,” Mekies stated. “At some stage, we had to make the difficult call between where we were seeing that going for the following years.”
Fans of Tsunoda need not despair, as Mekies expressed confidence in the driver’s potential for a brighter future. “I hope, and I think, that Yuki will get another chance. He will be the reserve driver with us next year. You never know what's going to happen. We have been quite famous in making fairly swift driver decisions in the past,” he noted, hinting at the unpredictable nature of F1 driver dynamics.
Reflecting on Tsunoda's journey, Mekies recalled a pivotal moment at the end of the 2024 season when Tsunoda was in top form. “It was very difficult for him to digest. Liam was getting the promotion in Red Bull Racing. He went into the winter thinking, was he going to get the chance one day or not?” This uncertainty was a significant setback for Tsunoda, but Mekies reassured fans that the young driver still holds immense potential.
“Three races after, he was driving in that Red Bull team. So you never know what the future holds. I’m sure everyone in this room and beyond has experienced setbacks — sometimes hard setbacks. That’s a setback for him. But I am confident that he has a lot in him that will allow him to have another opportunity,” Mekies concluded, leaving fans hopeful for Tsunoda's remarkable resurgence!
As Tsunoda gears up to hit the streets of San Francisco in the iconic RB7, the excitement is palpable. This demonstration is not just a return to form for the driver but a thrilling spectacle for fans and a reminder of the exhilarating world of Formula 1. Don’t miss out on this chance to witness history in the making!
