Alonso continua ligado à Aston Martin após a aposentadoria da F1

Fernando Alonso, the Spanish driver of the Aston Martin F1 Team AMR24, recently announced that he has renewed his contract with the team. This new agreement ensures that he will remain associated with the Aston Martin brand even after his career as a Formula 1 driver. Speculations about Alonso’s future were dispelled with this multi-year agreement, solidifying his commitment to the Silverstone-based team. By choosing to extend his second stint in F1, Alonso will have the opportunity to compete with Aston Martin during the next regulatory overhaul, which includes a new engine partner, Honda. Alonso, who achieved eight podiums in his first season with the team, expressed his long-term dedication to the British automotive brand. In his own words, “this is something that will keep me connected to Aston for many, many years.”

Alonso’s enthusiasm for this extended contract is evident as he discusses his plans beyond his career as a driver. He sees this as a “lifelong project” and the longest contract he has ever signed. Even after he stops driving, he intends to use his 25 years of experience in F1, along with another 10 to 15 years outside of F1, to benefit the team. This perspective is highly attractive to him, and he is motivated for the future. When asked if he signed a contract longer than his expected time as a driver, Alonso confirmed that it is a possibility, but he does not know when he will stop driving. If he retires earlier than expected, he is open to taking on a different role within the team.

Despite his long-term commitment to Aston Martin, Alonso is determined to continue competing in F1 for at least the next two seasons. His goal is to win his elusive third drivers’ title. While he cannot predict when he will stop racing or tire of it, he is certain that it will not happen in the coming years. His decision to extend his contract was partly motivated by the opportunity to work with Honda and participate in the new regulations. Although he does not provide specific details about the duration of the contract, he emphasizes that there are many years ahead with Aston Martin to progress in various areas. Alonso’s dedication to the team goes beyond his time as a driver, as he is equally committed to supporting the team’s success in a different role.
