The Asian Le Mans Series 2026 final was red-flagged after only 18 laps following a heavy off-track incident involving Michael Jensen's Oreca 07 / Algarve Pro Racing and Memo Gidley's Ferrari 296 GT3 / Kessel Racing.
A red flag was immediately deployed following a huge impact involving the #25 APRacingTeam car and the #15 Kessel Racing entry, bringing the session to a halt and leaving everyone watching with their hearts in their mouths.
The collision was violent. The force of the impact was described as monumental, and for several tense moments all attention was fixed on the aftermath, waiting for confirmation of the drivers’ condition.
Thankfully, the most important news followed quickly.
Both drivers were able to exit their cars unaided and were subsequently taken to the medical centre for precautionary checks. No further details have been released at this stage, but the immediate outcome was the best possible one given the severity of the crash.
