Andretti’s plans in global motorsport are more ambitious than ever. In addition to the Formula 1 project with Cadillac, the American team now also wants to enter Formula 2 and Formula 3.
This Wednesday, the move to a new infrastructure in Silverstone was revealed, as another step in the F1 program. And, at that same location, if the team in the premier category advances, the F2 and F3 teams will also be based there – joining, later, the Formula E team, which currently has its headquarters in Banbury, and a potential program in Endurance.
Michael Andretti revealed, quoted by the Motorsport.com website: ‘These two infrastructures will be mainly for F1, but we also want to bring our Formula E team and start integrating it here. Our goal is to have an F3/F2 team to support the F1 team, and then maybe even a WEC team. So, we want to make this our center for European races. So, there are many good plans in this area’.
As for the intentions in F2 and F3, Andretti’s main goal is to develop young talents from the United States of America, but not only: ‘It’s not just for Americans, but it will be a good ladder for American drivers. We will still look for the best talent in the world. But it will give an American driver a fair chance, because usually when an American comes here [Europe] they are not treated the same way. Here in our team, they will be treated fairly. […]. Then we can really talk about talent, how real it is or not,’ Michael said.
