BYD, after selling around 1.04 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in export markets during 2025, has the ambition, stated at a press conference, to raise the “bar” to 1.3 million this year, which corresponds to a growth expectation of about 25%. In total, in the previous year, it sold 4.60 million vehicles with electric and plug-in hybrid engines – with the former representing 2.26 million units (49.1% of total sales).
Last year, the increase in exports of the Chinese brand was due to the expansion of its activities in key regions, especially in Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. By the end of 2025, the manufacturer was active in 110 countries.
Alongside the increase in commercial performance, BYD plans to manufacture more cars outside of China, in production units in Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Brazil, which are already operational. Soon, it will also have its first factory in Europe (Hungary).
