NASCAR fans roast Corey LaJoie after outrageous top ten claim: is he out of touch?

NASCAR’s Corey LaJoie Claims Top Ten Status, Fans Erupt in Laughter!

In a jaw-dropping proclamation that has sent shockwaves through the NASCAR community, Corey LaJoie boldly declared himself a potential “top-10 Cup guy” as he prepares for a limited return to the racing circuit in 2026. This audacious claim comes after a tumultuous two-year hiatus during which the 34-year-old veteran found himself sidelined, unable to keep pace with the rising talents of rookie Carson Hocevar at Spire Motorsports. As LaJoie gears up for the Daytona 500 in February, fans are left scratching their heads and rolling their eyes at his astonishing self-assessment.

Confidence or Delusion?

LaJoie’s over-the-top confidence was showcased in his recent interview with SiriusXM, where he stated, “People that know… guys like Brad (Keselowski) that have raced around me, those guys know if I’m with the right group that believes in me and gives me the right stuff to jump in there, I can get the job done as well as anybody.” While the driver is not claiming Hall of Fame status, he believes that at the peak of his abilities, he deserves to be ranked among the best. But is this bravado backed by performance? The statistics tell a different story.

With a staggering 276 Cup Series starts under his belt, LaJoie has yet to experience the thrill of victory lane, boasting a dismal record with zero wins across the top three NASCAR series. In four seasons with Spire Motorsports, he managed a mere eight top-10 finishes out of 142 races. Furthermore, in nine Daytona 500 appearances, he has only managed to crack the top 10 three times. These figures paint a bleak picture for LaJoie’s claims of greatness.

A Deluded Defense

In a desperate attempt to justify his lackluster performance, LaJoie reflected on his four-year stint with an underdog team, stating, “I sacrificed four years of my career trying to do an upstart team… as soon as we got to a decent place and they hired some smart guys they cut my head off.” While he may believe he’s a victim of circumstance, the NASCAR fandom is less sympathetic.

The Twitterverse Explodes

LaJoie’s bold self-endorsement has ignited a firestorm of mockery and ridicule across social media platforms. Fans were quick to remind LaJoie that self-proclaiming as a top-10 driver in a sport dominated by legends is nothing short of laughable. One fan succinctly pointed out, “Top 10 driver in NASCAR has exactly 0 combined wins in the top 3 series.” Another chimed in, highlighting LaJoie’s ousting from Spire in favor of Justin Haley, who boasts one win and multiple top finishes: “Yeah, hard to be a top 10 driver out of 40 when you weren’t even top 3 out of 3, considering you got booted for Justin Haley.”

The roasting didn’t stop there; LaJoie was compared to a WWE villain by a fan who quipped, “This guy has to be playing a character. Like a WWE heel.” Others took a more direct approach, stating, “Corey isn’t even one of the top 10 unemployed drivers.” Ouch!

Fans are starting to wonder if LaJoie’s outlandish claims are merely a publicity stunt to stay relevant in a sport that has seemingly forgotten him. One user speculated, “This has to be some type of elaborate scheme by LaJoie; if he wasn’t continually acting like a pompous ass we wouldn’t be talking about him right? Bad publicity is still publicity? Right?”

As the NASCAR world gears up for the new season, all eyes will be on Corey LaJoie. Will he back up his claims with a performance that speaks for itself, or will he continue to be the punchline of NASCAR jokes? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain—his return has already made waves, and fans are ready to see if he can finally deliver on his bold promises.
