Red Bull Racing’s shocking decision: Yuki Tsunoda’s fate revealed amid championship chaos

Yuki Tsunoda’s Red Bull Journey Takes a Dramatic Turn: What Went Wrong?

In a shocking twist in the world of Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda has been unceremoniously dropped from his role as a race driver for Red Bull Racing for the 2026 season. This bombshell decision has left fans questioning the future of the talented driver, as Racing Bulls chief Alan Permane revealed the reasoning behind the delay in announcing the team’s new driver lineup. The delay, Permane explained, was out of “respect” for Tsunoda, who has faced significant challenges during his tenure with the senior Red Bull team.

Tsunoda’s struggles became increasingly apparent as the 2025 season wound down, leading to speculation that he wouldn’t be retained alongside the formidable Max Verstappen. Ultimately, the decision to replace him with rising star Isack Hadjar was made clear, but Tsunoda remained a potential candidate for a seat with the Racing Bulls. However, with Liam Lawson and F2 rookie Arvid Lindblad also vying for a spot, the competition was fierce.

The final verdict on Tsunoda’s fate came after the Qatar Grand Prix, where the new duo of Lawson and Lindblad was announced as the Racing Bulls lineup, relegating Tsunoda to the role of third and reserve driver for both Red Bull teams. Permane, who is navigating his first full season as team principal, candidly shared insights into the decision-making process, revealing that the announcement was initially slated to occur after the Mexican Grand Prix.

“We started off by saying the announcement was going to be after Mexico, and then we wanted to just calm things down a bit,” Permane disclosed. “That’s largely because Red Bull were in a tight battle for the constructors’ championship. We just didn’t want any more noise about it.”

As the dust settled in Qatar, the team had made their choices, and Permane emphasized the importance of giving Tsunoda a dignified farewell. “Honestly, it was so that he can have a final race with Red Bull Racing, and I’m sure it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s his final race in Formula 1,” he added, hinting at the possibility of Tsunoda’s return in the future.

This shocking announcement not only signifies a pivotal moment for Tsunoda but also sets the stage for a thrilling new chapter in the 2026 F1 season. With the upcoming regulations promising to revolutionize the sport—think movable wings, enhanced electrical power in hybrid systems, and a commitment to 100% sustainable fuel—the stakes have never been higher.

Stay tuned, as Formula 1 gears up for an electrifying season that will undoubtedly keep fans on the edge of their seats!
