Chris Rice reveals shocking risk that skyrocketed his Kaulig Racing career to new heights

Title: The Bold Move That Reshaped a NASCAR Legacy: Inside Chris Rice’s Game-Changing Decisions at Kaulig Racing

In a stunning twist that could change the landscape of NASCAR, Kaulig Racing has emerged as a powerful force to reckon with, and at the helm of this transformation is none other than Chris Rice. The new CEO of Kaulig Racing has made waves not just by ascending to a leadership role, but by embracing a path that many would deem risky—one that has already begun to pay dividends in the high-octane world of motorsports.

From the shadows of uncertainty, Rice’s journey is nothing short of inspirational. “I was 310 pounds, a big guy trying to drive a race car,” Rice candidly revealed on The Bean Nation Podcast, drawing listeners into the personal struggles that shaped his career. Rice’s story isn’t just about weight; it’s a tale of ambition and determination, where the sacrifices of his family propelled him into the spotlight.

Promoted to CEO in late September 2025, Rice’s rise was marked by juggling multiple roles—from pit road duties to managing 18 drivers. But it was his decision to pivot from racing to crew chief that changed everything. “I was winning over 60% of the races I entered, but I was almost broke,” Rice confessed. “I realized I couldn’t keep running my family into the ground financially. It was time to choose a new path.”

This pivotal moment in Rice’s life set the stage for a daring new chapter for Kaulig Racing. Under his leadership, the team is making a bold shift towards the Craftsman Truck Series, focusing its efforts on the high-stakes world of truck racing. And guess what? The stakes have never been higher, as they prepare to field five RAM trucks for the 2026 season.

Adding fuel to the fire, Kaulig Racing recently secured a partnership with MOPAR, a brand synonymous with speed and performance. MOPAR’s illustrious history in NASCAR, boasting 319 victories and seven championships with iconic brands like Chrysler and Dodge, is a testament to the credibility they bring to the table. “MOPAR has evolved over more than 88 years to become synonymous with factory-designed and factory-backed performance parts,” stated Darren Bradshaw, Senior Vice President of Mopar North America. “Competing for race wins with Kaulig Racing and RAM is where our brand belongs.”

The excitement is palpable as the No. 10 MOPAR RAM 1500, driven by promising talent Daniel Dye, gears up for its debut at the prestigious Daytona International Speedway on February 13. With a robust strategy in place and Rice at the helm, Kaulig Racing is set to unleash a new era of competition that promises to thrill fans and challengers alike.

As the NASCAR world watches with bated breath, one thing is clear: Chris Rice’s bold decisions are not just reshaping his own career; they are redefining what is possible in the fast-paced arena of racing. With an ambitious vision and a commitment to excellence, Kaulig Racing is poised to make its mark in 2026 and beyond. Buckle up; this is just the beginning.
