Marquez confessa que não será tão rápido como antes na MotoGP.

Hello, how are you today?

I am doing well, thank you for asking.

Former MotoGP world champion and Gresini Ducati rider, Marc Marquez acknowledges that he will not be as fast as he used to be after his injuries in 2020. Marquez, who is now in his 12th season in the premier class for the 2024 season, joined a new team after switching from Honda to a Ducati satellite team. In the first two races, he struggled to adapt to the Italian team and faced tough competition from rookie Pedro Acosta, who managed to overtake Marquez in both Qatar and Portugal. These battles led to comparisons between the two riders, as Acosta reminded everyone of Marquez’s racing style when he debuted in 2013. Reflecting on Acosta’s impressive start to the season, Marquez believes that younger riders are not fully aware of their abilities when they reach the top. Marquez admits that he now has more experience in dealing with tight race situations, which has made him more cautious in his approach. He explains that when you are younger, you tend to take risks without fully realizing the consequences, but as you gain more experience, you become more conservative and rely on your knowledge to make decisions. Marquez also addresses the common belief that he will be stronger after his injury in 2020 and with more years in the sport. However, he disagrees and states that he will not be faster than before because the extra advantage that comes with youth is no longer present. However, he acknowledges that he can still benefit from his experience and should make use of it. He mentions that he approached the races in Qatar and the pre-season with a calm mindset, but also acknowledges that mistakes are inevitable because humans tend to repeat the same mistakes. Marquez expresses his desire to continue learning from the best riders in the Ducati team. Looking back on the beginning of his own MotoGP career, Marquez reflects on how he was once the 20-year-old competing against legends like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Dani Pedrosa. Now, the situation has completely changed and he finds himself being compared to the new generation of riders like Acosta. Marquez sees this as a natural progression in the sport, where new talents emerge and eventually take over.
