McLaren e Diretor Técnico se separam após apenas 3 meses.

In a surprising twist in the world of Formula 1, McLaren Team Director Andrea Stella shed light on David Sanchez’s departure from the team. Sanchez, who had previously left Ferrari, had joined McLaren in January as the technical director for car concept and performance. However, just three months after taking on the role, Sanchez left the team. This unexpected change occurred just before the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, leading McLaren to announce a technical reorganization in response to his departure.

During an interview with Sky F1, Stella discussed the constantly evolving nature of Formula 1 and emphasized the team’s commitment to building an efficient and effective organization. He stated, “Formula 1 is a fast-evolving dynamic environment. We looked at how we could create the most efficient and effective organization. Along with David, we assessed the best setup and what was best for him.”

The decision to part ways with Sanchez was attributed to a “misalignment” between his vision and the team’s direction. Stella detailed the circumstances that led to this mutual decision, suggesting that changes in the team’s context after Sanchez’s arrival may have influenced his choice. He hinted at adjustments to Sanchez’s role and the possibility of him seeking opportunities elsewhere that offered a more significant position.

Stella also highlighted the importance of Rob Marshall, the chief designer, and Neil Houldey, the technical director of engineering, in the team’s future technical strategy. Despite Sanchez’s unexpected departure, Stella expressed optimism about McLaren’s technical direction and extended his best wishes to Sanchez in his future endeavors. He concluded by marking the end of Sanchez’s brief but notable stint at McLaren, paving the way for the team’s next steps in Formula 1.
