Rétromobile 2026 honors Steve McQueen: a thrilling tribute to the king of cool and speed

Revving Up for Rétromobile 2026: Steve McQueen Takes Center Stage!

Get ready, car enthusiasts and movie lovers alike! The iconic Steve McQueen, a true titan of cinema and motorsport, will be celebrated at the upcoming Rétromobile 2026, set to take place from January 28 to February 1 at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles. This is not just another car show; it’s a thrilling tribute to a man who embodied the spirit of speed and rebellion!

Known as the “King of Cool,” Steve McQueen left an indelible mark on the film industry with unforgettable classics like “The Great Escape” (1963), “Bullitt” (1968), and “Le Mans” (1970). But what many may not realize is that his legacy extends far beyond the silver screen—McQueen was an unstoppable force in the world of automotive competition. In fact, his love affair with speed began long before he became a cinematic legend.

Who remembers that McQueen was behind the wheel of a Cooper T56 Formula car as early as 1962 at the legendary Laguna Seca? Or that he was selected by the American Federation in 1964 to represent Team USA in the grueling International Six Days of Trial (ISDT)? Not to mention his thrilling performance at the 1970 12 Hours of Sebring, where he co-piloted a Porsche 908 to a remarkable second place alongside Peter Revson.

At Rétromobile, McQueen’s fervor for motorcycles will take the spotlight! Attendees can expect to see iconic machines that shaped his life, including the stunning 1961 Triumph TR6 from “The Great Escape,” the 1971 Husqvarna 400 Cross, and the formidable 1971 Honda 250 SRM—all lined up alongside the legendary 1968 Mustang Fastback from “Bullitt.”

For McQueen, life was all about racing. His passion was so overwhelming that he once confided to his biographer, William F. Nolan, that he could never decide if he was an actor who raced or a racer who acted. Balancing both worlds was a tightrope walk, yet his heart always raced toward the thrill of competition. Whether navigating the rugged terrains of the Mojave Desert, maneuvering the steep hills of San Francisco, or speeding down the straightaways of Le Mans, McQueen lived for the rush.

As Rétromobile approaches, it promises to be an exhilarating homage to McQueen’s relentless spirit—mark your calendars and gear up for an unforgettable experience!

Ticket Information: – Early bird price (7 days prior): €20 – General admission (7 days prior): €21 – Online ticket price during the event (January 28 – February 1, 2026): €22 – On-site ticket price: €25 – Group rate (10 or more tickets): €17
