Shockwaves in Motorsport: The Rosin Family Exits Prema After Over 40 Years!

In a stunning turn of events that has sent ripples throughout the motorsport community, the Rosin family has officially severed ties with Prema, the illustrious racing team that Angelo Rosin established back in 1983. This monumental decision marks the end of an era that has defined competitive racing for decades.

The departure of key figures Grazia Troncon, René Rosin, and Angelina Ertsou at the start of this week has raised eyebrows and sparked speculation about the future of one of motorsport’s most successful teams. Prema has long been synonymous with excellence, boasting an impressive track record of over seventy titles across various categories, nurturing young talents from the karting circuit all the way to the prestigious gates of Formula 1.

Last year, Prema made headlines by joining the IndyCar grid, where they clinched pole position for the Indianapolis 500 with rising star Robert Shwartzman. This achievement underscored the team’s commitment to expanding its horizons, as they have also ventured into the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and maintained a strong presence in Formula 4, Formula Regional, Formula 3, and Formula 2.

While no official reasons have been disclosed for this shocking departure, the Rosin family’s exit signifies a seismic shift within Prema. The team underwent a corporate transformation in 2021, transitioning to the control of DC Racing Solutions Ltd., a Swiss enterprise heavily involved in motorsport through its Iron Lynx project, with Deborah Mayer at the helm. This ownership change has propelled Prema into a new realm of possibilities but raises questions about how the void left by the Rosin family will be filled.

The legacy of the Rosins is unparalleled. Their stewardship has seen Prema evolve through various cycles in the motorsport world, nurturing a plethora of drivers who have gone on to excel in Formula 1. Notably, nine current F1 drivers have donned the Prema colors at some point in their careers, with names like Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, and Arvid Lindblad representing just a fraction of the talent that has emerged from the team’s Grisignano di Zocco base.

As the motorsport community reflects on the Rosin family’s monumental contribution, the departure signals the end of a historic chapter. The question looms large: can Prema maintain its status as a powerhouse in racing without the guiding hand of its founding family? The road ahead is fraught with challenges as the team navigates this pivotal transition.

The motorsport world watches with bated breath as the implications of this shake-up unfold. Will Prema continue to thrive under new leadership, or will the departure of its founding family leave an indelible mark on its future? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the legacy of the Rosins will be felt for years to come in the annals of racing history.
