Sebastien Buemi steals pole position in shocking Mexico City E-Prix qualifying showdown

Sebastien Buemi Shocks the Crowd with Stunning Pole Position at 2026 Mexico City E-Prix!

In a breathtaking showdown at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the 2026 Formula E Mexico City E-Prix has delivered a thrilling spectacle as veteran driver Sebastien Buemi clinched a sensational pole position! Fans were on the edge of their seats as Buemi triumphed over rising star Taylor Barnard in a nail-biting final duel that showcased the fierce competition of the electric racing series.

Despite Barnard’s impressive speed during the final lap, his moment of glory was dashed when officials disqualified his lap time for exceeding track limits at the critical last corner. This dramatic turn of events allowed Buemi to seize the coveted pole, proving once again that experience can triumph over youthful exuberance in the high-stakes world of Formula E racing.

Starting just behind Buemi is Mahindra’s Edoardo Mortara, who will roll off the grid in a strong third position, followed closely by Jaguar’s Mitch Evans, who occupies the second row. The stage is set for an electrifying race as these contenders prepare to battle it out for supremacy on one of the most iconic tracks in the series.

However, the qualifying session was not without its surprises. In a shocking twist, superstar Pascal Wehrlein faced an unexpected elimination in the group stage, resulting in a disappointing 11th place finish. This marks a significant downturn for Wehrlein, who had previously dominated the last two races in Mexico City from the pole position. Fans and analysts alike are left questioning what went wrong for the talented driver, making his performance one of the most discussed topics in the lead-up to the race.

Rookie sensation Pepe Marti also faced challenges, qualifying in 19th place. Unfortunately, due to a back-of-the-grid penalty from the season-opener, he will start at the very back of the field. The young driver will have to summon all his skill and determination to make a mark as he navigates the crowded track.

As anticipation builds for the race day, the shocking qualifying results have set the stage for an exhilarating event. Will Buemi maintain his pole position, or will the fierce competition from Mortara and Evans push him to the limits? Fans won’t want to miss this electrifying race as the 2026 Formula E season continues to unfold in spectacular fashion!

Stay tuned for the full qualifying results and get ready for a race that promises to be nothing short of spectacular!
