In a dazzling turn of events, Lando Norris has etched his name into the annals of Formula 1 history as the newly crowned world champion! As the confetti fell in Abu Dhabi, the excitement was palpable not just for Norris, but also for the entire McLaren team and their fervent fans. However, amidst the celebrations, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has some sage advice for the young superstar: “keep smiling.”

Domenicali, addressing the media after Norris’s monumental victory, emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive outlook. “Very positive, young, energetic, with this personality that is different from the others,” he noted, highlighting what makes Norris a standout figure in the sport. The key takeaway? “You need to have positive energy,” he declared. Norris’s infectious smile and upbeat demeanor are not just a personal trait; they are essential for a champion carrying the weight of expectations.

But it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows for Norris this season. The 2025 campaign tested his mettle as he faced a series of challenges, including early-season blunders that allowed teammate Oscar Piastri to seize the upper hand in the drivers’ standings. On top of that, the relentless pursuit of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen added to the pressure cooker environment. Yet, in a stunning display of resilience, Norris finished third in Abu Dhabi, clinching the championship by a mere two points ahead of Verstappen.

Reflecting on his tumultuous journey, Norris shared insights into his mental transformation. “The first season was very tough, and I’m sure even tougher for others,” he admitted in a candid chat with Sky Sports F1. He credited his team for providing him with an incredible car that made his racing experience smoother at times, but acknowledged the fierce competition from Piastri, who he described as having “done an incredible job.”

Norris’s relationship with Piastri has been one of mutual growth. “I learned a lot from him,” he confessed, recognizing that the fresh talent pushed him to dig deeper than ever before. This mentorship dynamic has undoubtedly shaped him into the driver he is today, alongside experiences gained from former teammates like Carlos Sainz and Daniel Ricciardo.

The pivotal summer break proved to be a game-changer for Norris, equipping him with the mental fortitude necessary to tackle the championship challenge head-on. “After Zandvoort, it was tough, but I had a good break and did everything I needed to,” he revealed. This break wasn’t just about honing his driving skills; it involved a comprehensive overhaul of his mental approach, preparing him to improve his performance in ways that might go unnoticed for years to come.

As the dust settles from a thrilling season, one thing is crystal clear: Lando Norris is not just a champion; he is a beacon of positivity and resilience in the world of Formula 1. His journey serves as an inspiration, proving that with a smile and unwavering determination, even the toughest challenges can be conquered. Keep your eyes on this young star—his reign is just beginning!
