The veteran driver has maintained close communication with Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll, who keeps him informed of the team’s strategic direction. “Lawrence is talking to us regularly, once a week on the phone, and when he comes to the races, every day we have lunch or dinner together,” Alonso disclosed. “So we are always in the loop on what Lawrence thinks. He asks for opinions on what will be best for the team, what is missing. So we are very involved always in everything they are thinking.”
While Alonso acknowledges the team’s current struggles, he emphasizes that the shift in leadership was not a knee-jerk reaction to their performance woes. Newey, renowned for his technical prowess, has been tirelessly dedicated to the upcoming AMR26, focusing his efforts on crafting a car that can excel in the new era of F1 racing.
