Haas F1 team shocks the world by signing young sensation Kaylee Countryman for 2026 season

Haas F1 Team Unveils Rising Star Kaylee Countryman as Their Newest Hope for 2026 F1 Academy Season

In a thrilling announcement that has sent ripples through the motorsport community, Haas F1 Team has confirmed that 15-year-old American talent Kaylee Countryman will be their representative in the 2026 F1 Academy season. This strategic move follows the team’s decision to part ways with current driver Courtney Crone. As the excitement mounts, Countryman becomes the latest addition to a growing roster of drivers from all ten F1 teams, with notable names like Ferrari’s Alba Larsen and Williams’ Jade Jacquet already making headlines for the upcoming season.

The F1 Academy, a crucial stepping stone for aspiring racers, operates under strict guidelines allowing drivers to participate in only two full seasons. With the current roster experiencing a turnover, including the likes of Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, and Lia Block graduating after 2025, the stage is set for fresh talent to rise. Enter Kaylee Countryman, who has made remarkable strides in her short racing career.

Hailing from Chandler, Arizona, Countryman’s journey in motorsport began just three years ago, where she first took the wheel of a four-stroke Briggs & Stratton-powered kart in the LO206 J2 class. Her impressive trajectory saw her clinch multiple podium finishes in 2022 before moving up to the more challenging two-stroke kart in the J3 Competition last year, where she consistently achieved top-10 finishes.

Not just a product of local tracks, Countryman recently showcased her skills in an F1 Academy test at Navarra, solidifying her place in the competitive landscape of single-seater racing. As part of her commitment to the Haas team, she will also compete in the prestigious USF2000 Championship, further enhancing her racing credentials.

Haas F1 Team Principal Ayao Komatsu expressed his enthusiasm for Countryman’s signing, stating, “We’re delighted to welcome Kaylee Countryman into the team to represent us in F1 Academy from next season. Her personality and passion for this sport are contagious, and we want to ensure she has everything she needs to flourish in F1 Academy, whether that be access to our resources and personnel, or simply advice and guidance. I believe together, we’ll achieve some exciting things on-track.”

The challenge ahead for Countryman is significant, as the F1 Academy operates at the Formula 4 level—a notable advancement from the machinery she’s been accustomed to. This transition will not only test her skills but also immerse her in the global racing scene, with the F1 Academy set to race alongside Formula 1 at seven iconic venues in 2026, including China, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Silverstone, Zandvoort, Circuit of the Americas, and Las Vegas.

“I’m so thrilled that I’ve been given this opportunity to represent Haas F1 Team and ART Grand Prix in the F1 Academy for 2026,” Countryman declared. “I look forward to taking another step in my career and learning to work in such a professional environment. I’m particularly excited about the various circuits we’ll be visiting around the world and being part of all that F1 Academy represents. I enjoyed a productive test with ART Grand Prix and I’m keen to build on that foundation as we go racing in 2026.”

With the spotlight firmly on her, Kaylee Countryman is poised to make a significant impact in the world of motorsport. As the 2026 season approaches, all eyes will be on this burgeoning star as she embarks on her journey with Haas F1 Team in the F1 Academy, where ambition meets opportunity. Buckle up for a thrilling ride ahead!
