Kyle Busch criticizes new NASCAR generation package for short track races

Since the introduction of the new cars in 2022, one of the most discussed topics has been the package used on short tracks. The new car has struggled to provide exciting races on these tracks due to traffic issues, lack of passing opportunities, and minimal tire degradation. NASCAR has made several attempts to improve the races on these tracks, but so far nothing has been successful.

According to the two-time NASCAR Cup champion, the new package has turned out to be much worse than expected. He is extremely frustrated with the impact this has had on his performance and has expressed his disappointment. When asked what could be done to improve races on short tracks, Busch refused to give an explanation, believing that NASCAR would not take any action.

Busch’s criticism is not only based on the poor performance of the short track package. His results with RCR on these tracks have been disappointing, with the Chevy No. 8 team failing to secure a top-20 finish in any short track race this season, despite participating in three of them. The veteran driver seems to be overwhelmed by the disappointments he has faced.

RCR had a promising start to the season, but has since struggled to have competitive cars. Busch is currently in 13th place in the points standings and is focused on scoring solid points. His main goal now is not to worry about points and instead focus on making his program more competitive.

For the race in Martinsville, Busch qualified in 11th place and hopes to use this as a springboard for the rest of the season. A strong finish among the top five or even a win at this iconic short track, which he hasn’t won since 2017, would put Busch as a serious championship contender.
