Max Verstappen Declares 2025 His Greatest Season Yet Despite Heartbreaking Championship Loss to Lando Norris

In a nail-biting conclusion to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen has boldly proclaimed that he has “no regrets” about what he describes as the pinnacle of his racing career, even after narrowly losing the championship to McLaren’s Lando Norris by a mere two points. The Red Bull Racing star, who has tasted victory 71 times, found himself grappling with disappointment as the season unfolded, but the way he rebounded has left him with a sense of accomplishment that overshadows the sting of defeat.

After a rocky start to the season, where Verstappen and his team looked out of contention, the landscape shifted dramatically under the guidance of team principal Laurent Mekies. The car’s performance began to surge, reinvigorating Verstappen’s title hopes. “It’s been a proper roller coaster with the car,” he admitted, reflecting on the turbulent journey. Even as he celebrated his recent win at Yas Marina, the looming loss of a fifth championship was palpable; nonetheless, he remains proud of his resilience and adaptability throughout the grueling season.

When asked if this year represented the best driving he’s ever accomplished in Formula 1, the four-time world champion did not hesitate to affirm, “Yeah, I think so. I have no regrets of my season; I think the performance has been strong.” He candidly shared his love-hate relationship with the car, stating, “I’ve hated this car at times but I’ve also loved it at times,” emphasizing his relentless pursuit to maximize its potential, even during challenging weekends.

As the season progressed, particularly during the latter half, Verstappen noted an exhilarating shift in performance and morale within the team. The atmosphere is electrifying, filled with “positive energy, belief, [and] confidence,” elements that he believes are crucial as they gear up for the next season. “We’re really on a roll,” he remarked, embodying the spirit of a champion who refuses to back down.

Despite the heartbreak of finishing just shy of the championship, Verstappen expressed a newfound sense of satisfaction compared to the previous year. “Honestly, I’m sitting here now with probably a better feeling than what I had last year at this time,” he said, acknowledging the struggles that plagued him throughout the second half of the last season and the first half of this one. “We have been struggling for I would say a year… but I actually feel a lot better now.”

While the title slipped through his fingers, Verstappen is adamant about taking pride in his performance, stating, “It’s always nicer to win it… but shame to miss out on the title.” His journey from uncertainty to contention showcases not just his skill but also his mental fortitude. “I never felt like I was in it until a few rounds ago, so that’s pretty crazy,” he reflected, highlighting the unexpected twists of the season.

As he gears up for 2026, Verstappen is filled with confidence, stating, “I’m not in a state of having to worry about my skills or whatever, so yeah, I feel good.” With the support of his team and an invigorated spirit, Max Verstappen is ready to tackle whatever challenges lie ahead, eyeing the championship with renewed vigor. The world of Formula 1 is undoubtedly in for a thrilling ride as this remarkable driver continues to push the boundaries of performance on the track.
