Sergio Perez lamenta saída precoce que lhe custou a pole position para Max Verstappen em Suzuka.

Sergio Perez narrowly missed the opportunity to secure the first position in the standings by just 0.066 seconds. Compared to the second half of the previous season, Perez’s performance at the beginning of the 2024 season has been satisfactory. However, he has not yet achieved a race victory, unlike he did in the 2023 season. The 34-year-old driver expressed his disappointment at losing the pole position due to mistakes made during his fast lap.

During the qualifying session, some drivers, including Max Verstappen, chose to take a wider turn to gain a slight advantage. Perez admitted that he did not have a good start on his lap, which ultimately made the difference in his final position. Despite narrowly missing out on the pole position, Perez remained optimistic about his team’s chances in the main race.

Furthermore, Perez highlighted concerns regarding Red Bull’s long-run pace at the Suzuka circuit. However, the team analyzed the issues during free practice 3 and made the necessary improvements. This ensured a more comfortable starting position for both drivers in the race that will take place on Sunday. With these adjustments, it is expected that Red Bull will have a smooth victory at the Japanese circuit.

Both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez showed similar levels of performance and speed during the qualifying session. Perez acknowledged that he was on par with Verstappen after a strong lap. Although Verstappen edged out Perez by a small margin, both drivers are determined to provide an exciting race and maximize their results, building on their one-two finish in Suzuka.

The Red Bull team has a significant opportunity to establish dominance over their rivals at the beginning of the 2024 season. To achieve this, the team must minimize errors and provide the drivers with ideal chances to secure a victory. Verstappen’s previous non-finish in Australia has significantly impacted his championship lead compared to other drivers.
