Red Bull shocks F1 world: Yuki Tsunoda out, rising star Hadjar takes center stage for 2026

In a stunning shake-up in the world of Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda’s journey with Red Bull Racing has come to an abrupt end as the team gears up for the 2026 season. The Japanese driver, who has faced challenges throughout his tenure, will be replaced by the rising star Isack Hadjar, while Arvid Lindblad takes a significant leap into the spotlight with the Racing Bulls.

This bold move sees Hadjar, who has made waves in his rookie season, stepping into the prestigious role alongside reigning champion Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing. Hadjar’s remarkable performance has seen him clinch a spot in the top ten of the championship standings, even securing a podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix. His seamless adaptation to the high-octane world of F1 and impressive speed on unfamiliar circuits have convinced Red Bull that he is the right choice for a rapid promotion, marking him as a driver of exceptional promise—one who is expected to outshine any of Red Bull’s previous F1 graduates since the legendary Verstappen.

Alan Permane, team principal of Racing Bulls, lauded Hadjar’s “truly outstanding season” and highlighted how he has performed “well beyond his experience,” setting the stage for an exhilarating future. Meanwhile, Tsunoda’s exit from a racing seat marks a pivotal moment in his career, though he will remain within the Red Bull family as a test and reserve driver, allowing him to stay connected to the high-speed action.

Adding another layer to this dramatic reshuffle is the retention of Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls, a decision influenced by Red Bull’s desire to elevate Lindblad to a full-time F1 seat. Lawson has worked tirelessly to resurrect his reputation after an early demotion, emerging as one of the top scorers in the midfield since a breakthrough in car setup at the Austrian Grand Prix in July. This stability is crucial for Lawson, who has faced a tumultuous series of campaigns, and Red Bull is poised to give him the chance to build upon his progress.

Arvid Lindblad’s promotion, however, is not without its risks. The 18-year-old has quickly ascended through the ranks but has had an inconsistent run in Formula 2. Yet, his impressive outings during Friday practice sessions and private F1 tests have won over Red Bull, who believe in his potential to thrive at the top level.

As the dust settles on this seismic shift, the F1 community is left buzzing with anticipation. Will Hadjar live up to the immense expectations? Can Lawson capitalize on his second chance? And what about Lindblad—will he rise to the occasion in his debut season? The stage is set for an electrifying 2026 season, one that promises to be filled with drama, excitement, and, above all, breathtaking racing.
