Lewis Hamilton’s shocking retirement decision looms after disastrous Ferrari season: will he stay?

Lewis Hamilton Faces Retirement Dilemma After Disastrous Debut Season with Ferrari

In a shocking turn of events, Lewis Hamilton, the legendary seven-time world champion, is on the brink of a career-defining crossroads as he wraps up a nightmarish inaugural season with Ferrari. With the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix looming, Hamilton is armed with one last chance to clinch a podium finish for the iconic Maranello team, a feat that has eluded him throughout the season.

The former Haas F1 team principal, Guenther Steiner, has raised the stakes, suggesting that Hamilton’s future in Formula 1 could hinge on his performance next year. “If Lewis doesn’t find his footing with Ferrari, retirement may become a very real consideration,” said Steiner, laying bare the pressure mounting on the 40-year-old driver. This year has been a harsh reality check for Hamilton, who joined Ferrari with sky-high expectations only to face relentless struggles on the track.

Hamilton’s season has been a rollercoaster of disappointment, with only a couple of top-three finishes during the Sprint races in China and Miami to show for his efforts. The summer break appeared to breathe new life into his campaign, with glimpses of improvement, yet his form has plummeted in recent races. In Qatar, Hamilton’s troubles deepened as he was knocked out in both SQ1 and Q1, finishing without points in both the sprint and the main event.

As Hamilton eyes the upcoming regulations, which are expected to favor his driving style—particularly as the ground effect era fades—he remains hopeful for a turnaround. However, the clock is ticking, and the weight of expectation is heavy. Steiner emphasized the urgency: “We all anticipated too much from Hamilton at Ferrari. The reality of the situation has been harsh. If he doesn’t deliver next year, we might see significant changes ahead of the 2027 season.”

Steiner continued, “Hamilton is giving himself one more year to assess his competitiveness. If he can’t find his rhythm, at over 40, he may have to consider retirement seriously.” As the curtain falls on this tumultuous season, eyes will be glued to Hamilton’s performance in 2024. The stakes couldn’t be higher—can the GOAT reclaim his glory, or will we witness the end of an era?

With the F1 world on the edge of its seat, fans are left wondering: will Hamilton rise from the ashes or bow out in a spectacular fashion? The upcoming season promises to be nothing short of dramatic, and the motorsport community is eagerly awaiting what might come next for one of the greatest drivers in history.
