“New Zealand motorsport star warns about Josh Berry’s habit of targeting international drivers”

“Estrela do automobilismo neozelandês alerta para o hábito de Josh Berry de mirar pilotos internacionais”

Shane van Gisbergen has had few encounters in the 2024 season so far. The three-time Supercars champion has established himself as a strong competitor in NASCAR, making a notable debut at the Chicago Street Race last season with Trackhouse Racing and emerging as the winner. Currently, the New Zealander is competing full-time in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing and also participating part-time in Cup races with Project 91 Chevy.

During a recent appearance on the Rubbin’ Is Racing podcast, hosted by a.k.a Large from Barstool Sports, Shane van Gisbergen engaged in a humorous conversation about Josh Berry, a driver for Stewart Haas Racing, and his notorious interactions with foreign drivers on the track. Berry has a history of occasional accidents with drivers who were not born in the United States, with the most recent incident occurring at COTA involving a Japanese driver.

In response to a warning about Berry, SVG acknowledged that he has not yet had the opportunity to compete directly against the Ford driver. However, he stated that he will keep the possibility in mind, as he still has about 10 Cup races scheduled for the 2024 season. You can expect Shane van Gisbergen to avoid Josh Berry when they both share the track.

The start of the 2024 season has not been as successful as Gisbergen had hoped. The New Zealand driver has only achieved one podium so far and has been going through a tough performance phase recently. This has led to speculations about his future in NASCAR among other competitors.

Although discussions about his contract with the 34-year-old driver have not yet begun, Shane van Gisbergen believes that team owner Marks has plans for his future in NASCAR. He is hopeful for an extension of his partnership with Trackhouse Racing and anticipates that Marks has something in store for him.
