Charles Leclerc exposes Ferrari’s shocking performance crisis: can they salvage their F1 season?

Ferrari’s Struggles Exposed: Charles Leclerc Lifts the Veil on 2025 Performance Crisis

In a shocking revelation, Ferrari’s star driver Charles Leclerc has laid bare the stark realities plaguing the Scuderia in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Despite high expectations following a tantalizingly close finish to the 2024 season, where they ended a mere 14 points adrift of McLaren, Ferrari has failed to clinch a single grand prix victory this year. With just two races left on the calendar, the team finds itself languishing in third place, a staggering 53 points behind Mercedes and 13 points adrift of Red Bull.

Leclerc, who has single-handedly secured all of Ferrari’s seven podiums—two of which were hard-fought second-place finishes in Monaco and Mexico—didn’t hold back in his assessment of why the team is floundering this season. “It is an obvious one, but it is just pure performance,” he stated, underscoring the fundamental issue that has hindered Ferrari’s progress this year. While he acknowledged that the team has excelled in maximizing the capabilities of their car, he lamented, “the performance of the car is just not good enough, so that is what we are lacking.”

In a season rife with ups and downs, Leclerc pointed to Mercedes as a benchmark, noting their inconsistent performance. “Mercedes is the closest team we can compare to us this year, and they had very big ups, but bigger downs as well,” he explained. In contrast, Ferrari’s strategy has been marked by a disturbing consistency—consistently lagging behind their competitors. “Unfortunately, consistently off the pace and not ever at the pace of the guys in front, but that’s just overall performance,” he added, painting a grim picture of the Scuderia’s current standing.

As the season draws to a close, it is evident that the gap between Ferrari and their rivals has only widened. Leclerc attributed this to the impressive strides made by both McLaren and Red Bull, stating, “I think the step that McLaren managed to do throughout the winter, and how Red Bull developed through the season, they made a gap which we couldn’t close.”

With the Qatar and Abu Dhabi races looming, the pressure is mounting for Ferrari to find a solution to their performance woes. Can they turn the tide before the season ends, or are they destined to watch their rivals continue to pull ahead? One thing is for certain: the legendary Scuderia must rally if they hope to recapture their former glory in the cutthroat world of Formula 1.
