Nick Cassidy’s shocking move to Citroën revealed: the pivotal role of Jean-Éric Vergne

Nick Cassidy’s Bold Move: The Inside Scoop on His Switch to Citroën in Formula E

In a stunning shift that has left the motorsport world buzzing, Nick Cassidy is set to ignite the upcoming Formula E season with a brand-new team – Citroën! For the first time in his electrifying career, Cassidy will not be behind the wheel of a Jaguar, and the reasons behind this monumental switch are as captivating as the races themselves.

Cassidy, who recently confirmed his transition to Citroën ahead of the highly anticipated London E-Prix, has attributed a significant part of his decision to none other than his new team-mate, Jean-Éric Vergne. In an explosive revelation, Cassidy described Vergne as a “big part” of his journey to join the French powerhouse, showcasing the vital role team dynamics play in the high-stakes world of Formula E.

As Citroën gears up to replace Maserati on the Formula E grid, the stakes have never been higher. The new season is set to kick off in São Paulo, and Cassidy is embracing a fresh start with a Stellantis-powered Formula E Gen3 EVO car. After three intense seasons battling for championship glory, Cassidy is shifting his mindset, opting for a more relaxed approach this year.

“I’m feeling good, but I must say that this year I don’t have the pressure on myself where we’re expected to be world champion,” Cassidy boldly stated. With the weight of expectations lifted, he’s ready to embrace the challenges ahead, viewing this year as a crucial building phase for Citroën. “We know this is a building year for us,” he emphasized, a sentiment that speaks volumes about his commitment to the team’s long-term vision.

Cassidy’s attitude marks a stark contrast to his previous seasons, where he entered each campaign with the burden of championship expectations hanging heavily over him. “So it’s a nice feeling, actually. It means that anything over X is a good feeling,” he declared, underscoring his newfound freedom as he and his team navigate this uncharted territory.

With pre-season testing in Valencia showcasing promising performance, Cassidy and the Citroën team are set to approach the season with optimism and a sense of camaraderie. “We’re all quite laid back, and we’re all quite happy with the performance, because we’ve not had expectations on ourselves,” he concluded, highlighting a refreshing mentality that could prove pivotal as the season unfolds.

As the countdown to the São Paulo race begins, all eyes will be on Nick Cassidy and Citroën. Will this bold move redefine his career and position the team as a formidable contender in the electrifying world of Formula E? One thing is for sure: the stage is set for an exhilarating season ahead!
