Aston Martin Says Emotional Goodbye to Felipe Drugovich After Stunning Las Vegas GP Exit

Aston Martin Says Goodbye to Felipe Drugovich After Las Vegas GP: A New Chapter Begins!

In a stunning announcement that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, Aston Martin has officially confirmed that Felipe Drugovich’s tenure with the team has come to an end following the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Brazilian driver, who once held the title of Formula 2 champion, bid farewell after an impressive three-year stint as the team’s reserve driver.

Drugovich’s journey began when he became the very first recruit of Aston Martin’s driver development program in 2022, making his mark as a vital asset to the team. Over the past few seasons, he has shown his talent during free practice sessions and private tests, including the highly scrutinized Abu Dhabi post-season test. However, the Las Vegas GP marked a bittersweet conclusion to his time with the iconic racing team.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Aston Martin paid tribute to Drugovich, captioning a nostalgic image of him perched on the nose of the AMR25 car amidst team members: “A fond farewell to Felipe Drugovich, who, after three years with the team, leaves us this weekend. We wish him all the best for the future.” The emotional post encapsulated the sentiments of the entire Aston Martin family as they prepared to part ways with their talented reserve driver.

Team principal and CEO Andy Cowell expressed his thoughts on Drugovich’s departure during the Singapore Grand Prix, highlighting his valuable contributions: “Felipe has been with the team for several years. A really great asset. Felipe is keen to go racing again, so I and everybody else were really keen to make sure that he’s got that opportunity and can go off and enjoy Formula E.” The world of motorsport is buzzing with anticipation as Drugovich gears up for a new adventure in Formula E starting in 2026, having signed with the prestigious Andretti team.

The timing of Drugovich’s exit is particularly strategic for Aston Martin, who are solidifying their future with seasoned drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso under contract for the upcoming season. Cowell reassured fans that the team is well-positioned and ready to tackle the challenges ahead with stability at the helm.

In a twist that has fans on the edge of their seats, Aston Martin has announced that young prodigy Jak Crawford will take the reins as the new third and reserve driver for Formula 1 in 2026. Currently, Crawford is making waves in the Formula 2 championship, sitting in second place and just 19 points behind the leader, Leonardo Fornaroli. Will he follow in Drugovich’s footsteps and secure a title of his own?

As the motorsport world turns its gaze toward the future, the departure of Felipe Drugovich marks not just an ending, but the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his racing career. Stay tuned, because the thrill of Formula E awaits, and every twist and turn of Drugovich’s journey will be followed closely by fans and analysts alike!
