Xiaomi produz modelo nº 500 000

Just 602 days after the start of its adventure in the automotive sector, Xiaomi produced its 500,000th car – a unit of the YU7 in the Max version, painted in Emerald Green, and equipped with the optional carbon fiber exterior package, 20” wheels, and yellow four-piston brake calipers. It is worth noting that the YU7 is the second product, and the first SUV, launched by the manufacturer owned by the electronics giant, and a model that is experiencing huge demand in China.

This success is even more impressive considering that, despite the current installed capacity of 350,000 vehicles per year, Xiaomi faced difficulties in the production process, which led to very long delivery times, with some customers waiting up to 62 weeks for the delivery of their YU7. Meanwhile, operations have improved, and delivery times are now, on average, 32 to 38 weeks for the YU7, and 6 to 31 weeks for the SU7 sedan (6 to 9 weeks for the Ultra sports version).

After launching its first electric car in China, the SU7, at the end of March 2024, Xiaomi (which claims to already be profitable, a feat that, if confirmed, would be unprecedented in the industry) aims to close 2025 with more than 400,000 units sold. Having delivered 75,869 units in the first quarter of the year, a number that increased to 81,302 in the second quarter, and to 108,796 in the third – adding the 48,654 from October, there are 85,379 units remaining to reach the goal by the end of the year, making the mission seem achievable.

Xiaomi is also preparing to expand its automotive division activities outside of China, with the European market “in its sights.” The manufacturer’s goal is to begin operations on the Old Continent during 2027.
