Lando Norris Makes Waves: Max Verstappen’s Brazil GP Performance Sends Shockwaves Through McLaren!

In a thrilling showdown at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Lando Norris emerged victorious, but his triumph comes with a caveat that has McLaren on high alert! Despite celebrating a maximum points haul that solidifies his standing in the championship race, Norris can’t shake the feeling that Max Verstappen, who started from the pit lane, could have easily snatched victory from him had he begun the race higher up the grid.

Norris’s win at Interlagos expanded his lead to a comfortable 24 points over teammate Oscar Piastri, who continues to grapple with his own struggles on the track. However, the buzz surrounding Verstappen’s performance, finishing third after a dramatic recovery, is impossible to ignore. With three races remaining, the Dutch driver now finds himself 49 points adrift of Norris, effectively dousing his own championship hopes. Yet, his pace during the race has raised alarms for McLaren, who are keenly aware that the competition is never far behind.

Norris expressed his doubts, stating, “The car balance was difficult. I’m sure the others will say the same. But it’s a realistic thing to use.” He reflected on the race, comparing it to his previous victory, where he won by a staggering 30 seconds. “This weekend, we only won by 10 seconds, and Max was coming at us quite quickly. He probably would have won if he started higher up,” he admitted candidly.

The Briton, whose competitive spirit is palpable, continued: “We maximized this weekend for ourselves, and that’s all we have to do. But I’m still very happy with how the weekend’s gone, of course, and I’m very proud of the whole team and what they’ve been able to give me.”

Adding fuel to the fire, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella echoed Norris’s sentiments, noting the strategic gamble that Red Bull took by opting for a late pit stop. “Today the level of degradation was very high, and at some stage, I think the tyres just ran out of rubber. It was the right call for them,” he explained. Stella also acknowledged Verstappen’s potential, suggesting that without his pit lane start, the race could have had a very different outcome. “Without the situation yesterday in qualifying, I think Verstappen would have been there for the victory,” he stated.

Looking ahead, Norris remains realistic about Verstappen’s ability to challenge in the final races of the season. “I’m sure he’s going to be a threat in terms of races, and you never know with the championship,” he cautioned. “He’s always fighting, and I’m sure he’ll fight to the end. So I look forward to it.”

As the championship battle heats up, it’s clear that McLaren must remain vigilant. With Verstappen lurking in the shadows, the fight for supremacy in Formula 1 is anything but over!
