Jos Verstappen’s Scathing Red Bull Take Dares Christian Horner: Is F1 Feud Back On?

Max Verstappen’s father, Jos Verstappen, has taken a bold jab at former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, praising the revitalized spirit within the team under the new leadership of Laurent Mekies. This latest development comes amidst a backdrop of a public feud that has simmered between the Verstappen family and Horner throughout the 2024 season, a rivalry that has not only stirred the pot but has also made life challenging for Max, caught in the crossfire between his father and his team boss.

In a dramatic turn of events, Horner was ousted from his position at Red Bull last summer following a string of disappointing performances. Meanwhile, the Verstappens have solidified their status as key players within the team. With Mekies at the helm, Red Bull’s fortunes have taken a sharp turn for the better, reigniting hope for Verstappen’s pursuit of a fifth consecutive world championship title. Currently, he finds himself just 36 points adrift of McLaren’s leading contender, Lando Norris, with only four races left in the season.

In an exclusive interview, Jos Verstappen shared his insights on the team’s transformation, revealing that the environment has markedly improved since Mekies took charge. “The fact that he even has a chance at the world title is a huge bonus,” he expressed to De Telegraaf, emphasizing the stark contrast to the turbulence experienced during the summer break. “The atmosphere in the team is completely different now. I have a good relationship with team principal Laurent Mekies, and it gives me a lot of peace of mind to see how much fun Max is having again. He’s in good hands.”

Red Bull’s resurgence is nothing short of astonishing. After a dismal start to the 2025 season, where Verstappen only clinched two victories out of the first 15 races, he found himself trailing over 100 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri at one point. However, the tides have turned in spectacular fashion. Verstappen has surged back into contention, notching up six consecutive podium finishes and securing victory in four of the last seven races, including sprint events. This resurgence has placed him just 36 points behind Norris, reigniting the fierce competition for the championship title.

The improved performance of the Red Bull team is further evidenced by the consistent point-scoring weekends of fellow driver Yuki Tsunoda, showcasing the enhanced capabilities of the RB21 compared to earlier in the season. As the championship race heats up, all eyes will be on Verstappen and his team as they aim to defy the odds and reclaim their dominance in Formula 1.

With Horner’s departure and Mekies’ fresh leadership, the question remains: can Red Bull reclaim its former glory and support Verstappen in his quest for that elusive fifth title? The upcoming races promise to deliver thrilling drama as the Verstappen family, now seemingly united with the team, prepares to battle for F1 supremacy once again.
