Introduced in 2017, being the model that marked the relaunch of Automobiles Alpine by the Renault Group, the A110 is expected to end production next year and will see a new generation in 2027 – but, according to the British publication Evo, and contrary to what was planned by the French manufacturer, it may not emerge equipped solely with electric powertrains. According to the same source, which cites information from the brand founded 70 years ago by Jean Rédélé in Dieppe, France, the new A110, which is expected to be offered in three variants (2-seater coupe and roadster, and a 2+2 GT), for the satisfaction of those who are not yet ready for the more than announced end of purely internal combustion engines, will feature a hybrid powertrain.
According to the aforementioned news, this solution will be offered as an alternative to the 100% electric powertrain and will debut a gasoline engine developed by Horse, a joint venture established in May 2024 between Renault and the Chinese company Geely. The fully electric A110s are expected to feature two motors on the rear axle and benefit from torque vectoring technology for optimized dynamics.
The British go even further, stating that the system does not derive from that installed, for example, in the A390 about to hit the market, and allows for maintaining the weight below 1300 kg, as Alpine aims for. The brand is also committed to developing technology for easy and quick battery swaps, with the goal of ensuring that the electric versions of the A110 maintain performance longer than usual. This ensures the protection of the vehicle’s value in the used market.
