Volvo inicia produção do ES90 para a Europa

Volvo has announced that it has begun production of the new ES90 for European markets, the Swedish brand’s first electric sedan, which comes with a series of innovations that make it the most technologically advanced model from the brand.

Equipped with state-of-the-art computers that represent an eightfold performance improvement over the previous generation, it is the first Volvo with 800V technology, offering greater range and faster charging than any previous electric Volvo.

The ES90 is built on the SPA2 platform, the same one used by the EX90 SUV, which allows for lighter motors and components to reduce weight and increase energy efficiency and range.

The new 100% electric fastback from Volvo features three power levels and can be equipped with batteries of 92 or 106 kWh capacity, for declared ranges in the WLTP cycle of 650 and 700 km, respectively.

Thus, the version equipped with a single electric motor installed on the rear axle, Single Motor Extended Range, with 333 hp and 480 Nm of maximum torque, claims an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

Meanwhile, the all-wheel drive version, Twin Motor, equipped with the 106 kWh battery, adds an electric motor on the front axle for a combined power of 449 hp and 670 Nm of maximum torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.

On its part, the performance version, Twin Motor Performance, also equipped with two electric motors, provides a total power of 680 hp and 870 Nm of torque. This version achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds.

“The fully electric ES90 represents an important milestone in Volvo Cars’ transition to a new era of safety, sustainability, and human-centered technology”, said Francesca Gamboni, Director of Industrial Operations at Volvo Cars. “With production underway, we reaffirm our commitment to a fully electrified future and demonstrate our ability to innovate and meet customer demand.”

The Swedish brand has already announced that the first deliveries of the ES90 in Europe are expected by the end of 2025.
