Visteon investe €10 milhões e cria mais 150 postos de trabalho em Portugal

Visteon, the American manufacturer of electronic components for the automotive sector, has inaugurated a two-story building in Palmela, Portugal, with an investment of €10 million, which is expected to create more than 150 new jobs over the next two years.

In a statement, the Palmela City Council announced that “the new Visteon facilities reinforce the company’s commitment to technology for the production of electronic products for vehicle cockpits and solutions for connected cars”.

“This new space is a leverage of technology that will allow us to enter the electrification area more quickly, with internal production, and will enable the company to continue investing in our municipality while simultaneously creating jobs and being a cutting-edge technology company”, said João Paulo Ribeiro, vice president of Visteon.

The Visteon factory in Palmela produces systems and components for the automotive industry, primarily audio components, electronic control modules for airbags, scroll compressors for air conditioning, instrument panels, climate control modules, and plastic components for air circulation modules.

For the next year, the company also announced that it will proceed with the expansion of the photovoltaic plant with the aim of “reducing costs” and having “a less heavy carbon footprint making it more competitive.” With this investment, the plant will increase from 880 KVA to 1750 KVA. The expansion of the magnesium (thixo) factory is also planned (1850m2) along with the launch of a painting unit (550m2).
