CEO da Valeo apoia quota de peças europeias nos automóveis fabricados na Europa

The European Commission wants low-cost cars for European customers manufactured in Europe with European parts.

The idea is welcomed by Christophe Perillat, CEO of the French company Valeo, a supplier of components for the automotive sector, who views positively the idea of introducing a minimum of components manufactured in Europe in cars produced in the European Union (EU).

Leaders in the European automotive sector have warned of the need to review the EU emission standards that prohibit new vehicles with combustion engines starting in 2035, while suppliers of automotive components are pressuring Brussels to impose a quota of 80% European parts in cars produced in the EU.

“A mechanism of this type will strengthen European sovereignty and, at the same time, protect competitiveness”, said Perillat while speaking to journalists at the Munich Motor Show, clearly pointing to the example of the USA.

The CEO of Valeo also mentioned that he hopes to discuss the European Commission’s proposal during the next round of negotiations with President Ursula von der Leyen, which will take place tomorrow, Friday.

It should be noted that the European Commission announced that it plans to gradually introduce European content requirements for battery cells and components.
