Aston Martin is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Volante, an iconic name synonymous with convertible Grand Tourers, with special editions of the DB12 and the Vanquish, developed by the customization division, Q by Aston Martin.
At the pinnacle of Aston Martin’s convertible offerings, the Vanquish Volante demands all attention with its 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, which delivers 835 hp of power and 1000 Nm of torque, allowing the two-seater model to reach a top speed of 345 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. These figures make this model the fastest and most powerful production convertible from Aston Martin to date.
On the other hand, the DB12 Volante, a 2+2 seater, powered by a handcrafted 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, produces 680 hp of power and 800 Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 325 km/h.
It should be noted that the name Volante was first introduced in 1965, with a model now known as the “Short Chassis Volante,” one of the rarest Aston Martins ever produced, with only 37 units built in a single year.
Since the creation of the Volante, the name has been applied to various Aston Martin convertibles. Both the Vanquish and the DB12 Volante feature lightweight “K” folding roofs, designed to offer extremely compact storage when removed, allowing for maximized luggage capacity, refinement, as well as quick operation. The opening takes only 14 seconds, and closing takes 16 seconds, with these operations being able to be performed while in motion, up to 50 km/h.
The two models include a unique specification, created by Aston Martin’s personalization service, Q by Aston Martin. Inspired by the rich legacy of the British brand, the Editions showcase unparalleled craftsmanship through design, rare materials, and elegant finishes.
Finished in Q Pentland Green, with a roof in Q Westminster Green, the exterior of the 60th Anniversary Volante Editions models is defined by meticulous details. Anodized bronze highlights punctuate the silhouette, creating a car that honors six decades of the Volante.
Attracting attention from the very first glance, the iconic grille with fins of Aston Martin is reimagined in anodized bronze. Optimized, it serves both as a visual centerpiece and as an essential performance element, channeling airflow with precision.
With a bold stance, and designed for performance, the exclusive 21″ Q wheels conceal black brake calipers branded with the Aston Martin logo. The bronze theme continues with the iconic Aston Martin trim integrated into the side air intakes.
Inside, the Editions feature exclusive color combinations in three shades, composed of Centenary Saddle Tan, Ivory, and Woven leathers in perfect harmony. Combined with dark open-pore walnut wood applications, details, and custom embroidery of the 60th anniversary in bronze, and an engraved and filled headrest, these elements create a cabin of refined elegance and ultra-luxury.
“Volante is one of the most evocative names of Aston Martin, representing six decades of the ultimate open-top driving experience. With the Volante Editions, we have created a truly exclusive celebration of this legacy, combining the pure power of the Vanquish Volante and the refined versatility of the DB12 Volante in a way that directly appeals to our most discerning customers. These cars are the embodiment of rarity, performance, and excellence that define Q by Aston Martin,” said Jolyon Nash, Chief Commercial Officer of Aston Martin.
With a strictly limited edition of 60 units for each model, deliveries of the commemorative edition for the 60th anniversary of the Volante Editions will begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
