Yangwang U9 quebra recorde mundial e atinge 472,41 km/h

BYD has once again surprised the automotive sector by achieving a new speed record for electric vehicles with the Yangwang U9, reaching 472.41 km/h on the Automotive Testing Papenburg test track in Germany.

The achievement was announced by the Chinese manufacturer on the social media platform Weibo, accompanied by a video showing the exact moment the Chinese supercar surpasses the 470 km/h barrier, making the Yangwang electric model the fastest vehicle on the planet.

This is not the first achievement of BYD’s electric supercar. In October 2024, the Yangwang U9 became the fastest model in China by reaching 391.94 km/h. A few weeks later, in November, it stood out again by completing a lap at Nürburgring with a time of 7 minutes and 17 seconds.

The new achievement comes just a few days after BYD homologated the new Track Edition version of the Yangwang U9.

Remember that the U9, already marketed in China, integrates the first 1,200V platform produced in series, with an optimized thermal management system for extreme conditions. This combination elevates the performance of the U9 Track Edition to unprecedented levels.

The e4 Platform, the world’s first four-motor traction system with 30,000 rpm motors, offers a maximum power of 555 kW per motor, for a total power exceeding 3,000 hp. The result is a power-to-weight ratio of 1,217 hp per ton, placing the Yangwang U9 at the top of the global automotive industry.

Benefiting from an independent torque vectoring system on each wheel, which adjusts power delivery more than 100 times per second, the U9 Track Edition maintains absolute traction and stability even at extreme speeds.

Together, the DiSus-X System – Intelligent Body Control System independently adjusts each suspension, reducing pitch and roll movements, increasing comfort, confidence, and cornering grip. Furthermore, the model preserves the aerodynamic design of the original Yangwang U9 and is equipped with a front carbon fiber splitter, validating the robustness and reliability of the U9 under high-speed conditions.
